This was such an amazing moment to experience. We were walking down the street after having seen a series of lighting blots that appeared to strike directly onto Volcan Agua. At the time, the sky was beautiful, with soft, feathery clouds , but rather "normal" for Antigua. We bumped into our roommate, Isabel, and as we were chatting to her about our separate excursions for that upcoming weekend, the light began to rise - an intense yellow, then orange, then red glow - from the horizon rapidly up overhead. It was an incredible moment, I stood in the middle of Friday early evening traffic gesturing and pacing back and forth erraticly, being the obnoxious American that I am, trying to spread the excitement that I felt about the natural beauty that was completely encompassing all of us. Only Matt understood. Isabel looked at me strangely. In the series of three, you can see the progression of light and color - from twilight to the beautiful sunset was literally a span of 8-10 minutes.
