friends of ED and JEN

I've been seriously trying to learn HTML, CSS, and ActionScript in the last few months to get my web design skills to a more advanced level. And of all the things I've tried to learn on my own, this has been the hardest. I've been pouring through the hundreds of related books on Amazon, and at the bookstores, and these web design books are KILLING me!!!

Anyway, my personal favorites so far are the friends of ED series for Flash. Their authors are relatively easy to follow (well, except for when they relate ActionScript to daily activities, which TOTALLY throws me for a loop), and the layout makes it easy for people like me who have NO patience to skip past all the step-by-step exercises. Also, the most valuable part is that their books tend to assume that you are working towards being a professional, not just a hobbyist. This was a big plus for me as they included sections on the business aspect of web design.

These are the two books I am currently using:
Foundation Flash MX
ActionScript for Flash MX
